Abiding in Christ
God desires to have fellowship with us. He is committed to our growth, and He is realistic about where we are in our walk. But we must take responsibility for our part in becoming like Christ. Jesus asks that we abide in Him (John 15). Abiding is the continual act of laying aside everything that I might derive from my own wisdom and merit, in order to draw all of this from Christ. Abiding is nurturing my friendship with the Lord. It is spending special time with Him daily, reading and studying His Word and conversing with Him. Abiding is choosing to live in His presence and realizing that He is with me wherever I go. It is continually sharing my thoughts with Him.
The key to growth is daily sitting at Jesus' feet. Don't expect to abide in Him unless you give Him that time. Desiring to know God and being willing to abide in Him have given me a measure of victory.
A GENTLE AND QUIET SPIRIT
As we trust God, commit our lives to Him, and practice discipline and discretion, a gentle and quiet spirit becomes evident. Our focus has moved from self (outward adorning) to God, who wants us to adorn our spirits.
Your beauty should not be dependent on an elaborate coiffure, or on the wearing of jewelry or fine clothes, but on the inner personality -- the unfading loveliness of a calm and gentle spirit, a thing very precious in the eyes of God." (1 Peter 3:3-4, PH)
A woman with a gentle and quiet spirit is secure and at rest. In Streams in the Desert, Henry Drummond gave a memorable definition for rest: "the response of a heart set deep in God." For a heart to be set deep in God, one must abide.
Proverbs 31:25 sums up a woman with a gentle and quiet spirit: "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future."
Poetry
Gods Love, So Very Great!
Gods love is a hundred times better than even grandpa's is
And His kindness and mercy spills out lavishly
Upon the little ones that He loves
Forever, yes throughout all of eternity.
He is my greatest love!
He is my sweetest delight!
He is the joy I know in life!
And my greatest appetite...
IS TO PLEASE HIM.
It Will Be Glorious!
When we least expect it to happen
Christ will call us to rise up into the skies ...
We shall meet Him there with praise and song,
With joyful hearts and blissful sighs.
We will be taken and made new
On that sweet and glorious day
In just a moment ... only the blink of an eye,
We will be seized away!
Yes, it will be swift when our LORD cries
To those He has called to be His bride;
It will be glorious, oh, so very beautiful...
To be always at His side.
